Tanning Mousse 101: A Step-by-Step Guide for Beginners

Are you ready to embrace a flawless, sunless glow?

Whether you're new to self-tanning or looking to perfect your technique, our guide will help you achieve flawless results with Sea Sun Australia’s Tanning Mousse

Step 1: Prep with a Gentle Exfoliation

First things first, exfoliate your skin 24 hours before tanning. This essential step removes dead skin cells, creating a smooth base for your tan. It not only helps the tanning product apply evenly but also extends the life of your tan.

Step 2: Timing is Key – Hair Removal

If you prefer hair removal, do it at least 12 hours before tanning. This prevents the tanning mousse from settling into open pores, ensuring a seamless finish without dark spots or uneven patches.

Step 3: Hydrate for a Smooth Application

Moisturise your skin thoroughly just before tanning. Dry patches can absorb more colour, leading to uneven results. Start moisturising daily a week before tanning, focusing on areas like elbows, knees, ankles, and hands 2 to 3 hours before applying your tan.

Step 4: Use a Tanning Mitt for a Professional Finish

For a flawless, streak-free application and stain-free hands, always use a tanning mitt. It helps evenly distribute and blend the tanning mousse, giving you a perfect finish every time

Step 5: Rinse and Glow

Let your tan develop for at least 1 hour for a sun-kissed look, or 3+ hours for a deeper bronze colour. Rinse off with slightly cooler water than usual, avoiding scrubs or soaps to maintain your tan. Just rinse until the water runs clear.

Step 6: Maintain Your Beautiful Glow

To keep your tan looking fabulous, moisturise daily to hydrate your skin and prolong your tan. Skip long, hot baths and showers to slow down natural exfoliation.
